UNICOM and Lubrizol partner to revolutionise immersion cooling
UNICOM Engineering and Lubrizol have joined forces to advance the adoption of immersion cooling in data centres with a validated Tier 1 solution. The partnership brings together UNICOM’s immersion-ready GPU platform, the XE9680-IR, and Lubrizol’s CompuZol™ IM2015, a PFAS-free single-phase fluid. This collaboration aims to drive energy efficiency, sustainability, and improved performance for artificial intelligence (AI) workloads.
UNICOM’s XE9680-IR, based on Dell PowerEdge servers, is specifically designed for demanding AI, machine learning (ML), and deep learning (DL) applications. Combined with Lubrizol’s CompuZol IM2015, this solution ensures superior thermal transfer capabilities, durability, and environmental safety. The technology is validated through rigorous testing, offering a warranty of up to five years to give operators confidence in adopting immersion cooling.
“By combining UNICOM’s expertise with Lubrizol’s advanced immersion fluid, we are helping businesses embrace sustainable data centre cooling solutions with ease,” said Rusty Cone, general manager at UNICOM Engineering.
Data centres worldwide face increasing pressure to reduce energy consumption and operational costs. Immersion cooling provides a more efficient alternative to traditional air-cooling methods, with significant environmental benefits. CompuZol IM2015 complements the hardware by including a “Fluid as a Service” programme, which provides filling, testing, and reclamation services to ensure long-term sustainability.
“Our partnership with UNICOM Engineering represents a significant milestone in making immersion cooling the preferred choice for data centres,” added Justin Cass, director of Immersion at Lubrizol.
This innovative solution highlights a growing trend toward sustainable data centre practices. By combining leading-edge hardware and advanced fluid technology, the collaboration seeks to address the challenges of high-performance computing while contributing to a greener IT industry.
