Exol Lubricants invests in Rotherham plant to boost operations
Exol Lubricants, one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of high-quality lubricants and associated products, has recently completed a major investment in the refurbishment of its Rotherham blending plant, signalling its ongoing commitment to operational excellence and brand enhancement. The five-week project focused on improving infrastructure, boosting efficiency, and ensuring the highest standards of safety and quality.
Key updates included high-pressure cleaning, repainting tanks with anti-slip coatings, and adding Exol’s signature branding. These upgrades not only improve the facility’s appearance but also enhance the efficiency and safety of daily operations. This investment is part of Exol’s broader strategy to continually improve its facilities, ensuring it remains a leader in the lubricants industry.
“By investing in our facilities, such as the Rotherham blending plant makeover, we are not only enhancing our operational capabilities but also reinforcing our brand’s commitment to quality, safety and continued improvements,” said Simon Matthews, product development manager at Exol Lubricants.
This investment is the latest in a series of strategic initiatives by Exol Lubricants to better its facilities, products, and services.
Over the years Exol’s investment projects has seen solar panels being installed at its head office in Wednesbury to cut carbon emissions and save energy costs, refreshed fleets to ensure optimised service levels to meet demand, this includes the usage of the waterways to transport product as eco-friendly as possible on the Exol barge – and the most recent investment involved a new automated liquid transfer system, called a pigging line, to reduce waste product lost during the blending process.
In 2021, the Rotherham facility’s floorspace was increased from approximately 40,000 square feet to 55,000 square feet. Additionally, the building’s ridge height has been raised to accommodate larger blending vessels and storage tanks, enhancing the plant’s blending capabilities to meet growing demand.
Exol Lubricants produces approximately 80 million litres of oil annually.
