Abstract:
The surge in electric vehicles (EVs), including hybrid and battery types, has driven the evolution of drivetrain lubricants from conventional automatic transmission fluids (ATFs) to specialized electric transmission fluids (ETFs). While ETFs and ATFs share certain properties, ETFs demand unique features such as enhanced copper compatibility for e-motor protection, balanced dielectric properties for electrified environments, and improved oxidative stability for high-temperature, high-speed e-motors. Addressing these requirements typically involves multiple additives, but this complexity can lead to formulation challenges and increased costs. This presentation explores our latest multifunctional additives that enhance copper corrosion resistance, oxidation stability, and dielectric properties, making them ideal for EV transmission lubricants and similar applications like data center immersion fluids.
