TotalEnergies launches OEM-approved premium lubricants from re-refined oils

TotalEnergies Lubrifiants has announced a groundbreaking achievement with the launch of Quartz EV3R, the first range of lubricants made from regenerated base oils that match the performance of conventional oils. This innovative product line has received approval from several major car manufacturers, marking a significant milestone in the automotive industry.

A lubricant typically consists of a mix of base oils and additives. For the Quartz EV3R range, TotalEnergies Lubrifiants’ R&D teams have meticulously selected high-quality regenerated base oils. These oils not only replace conventional base oils but also maintain the same high performance, resulting in eco-friendly lubricants that do not compromise on quality.

This new range is a testament to TotalEnergies Lubrifiants’ commitment to eco-design and the 3R concept (Reduce, Reuse, Regenerate), promoting responsible management of end-of-life products and reducing waste. Additionally, the packaging for the 1 litre (L) and 5L bottles of these lubricants is made from 50% recycled plastic.

Expanding the range

Following the introduction of Quartz EV3R 10W-40 for passenger cars, TotalEnergies plans to expand the range in 2025 with additional viscosity grades. The company will also launch Rubia EV3R 15W-40 and 10W-30 for heavy-duty vehicles in the summer of 2024.

Pierre Duhot, senior vice president of Lubricants and Specialties at TotalEnergies, expressed pride in the new product line: “We are proud to launch this Quartz EV3R range. TotalEnergies Lubrifiants is committed to accelerating the market’s transformation towards sustainability without compromising on performance and is leading the way with this first manufacturer-approved high-performance circular economy lubricants range.”
