Chevron Oronite achieves major milestone with WinGD dual fuel validation
Chevron Oronite has successfully obtained the WinGD Dual Fuel (DF) validated No Objection Letter (NOL) for its two 40 BN marine cylinder oil additive formulations, which were already approved under MAN Energy Solutions Category II. This validation confirms that lubricants based on these formulations are now suitable for all engine types and are specifically recommended for use in WinGD dual fuel engines and MAN Energy Solutions’ Mark 9 and higher engines.
Chevron Oronite, headquartered in San Ramon, California, U.S.A., is a global leader in the development, manufacturing, and marketing of fuel and lubricant additives. With a presence in more than 70 countries, Oronite operates multiple manufacturing sites and technology centres worldwide, emphasising technology excellence, reliability, and operational excellence. The company is a subsidiary of global energy major Chevron Corp.
Ilse Oelius Smaal, global marine manager at Chevron Oronite, expressed satisfaction with this achievement, highlighting that these high-performance products will now support LNG applications, providing customers with a single additive solution for the latest engine designs from two major marine OEMs.
Developed at Oronite’s marine lubricant research facility in Rotterdam, The Netherlands, the additives underwent rigorous testing, including marine engine assessments before the NOL test was executed on WinGD gas engines. This milestone marks a significant advancement in Oronite’s ability to offer comprehensive solutions in marine lubrication.
