Great Wall Motor to focus on small cars
Chinese carmaker Great Wall Motor Co. Ltd. will take advantage of the Chinese government’s stimulus package for the local automotive industry by focusing on the development of A-class vehicles, Chairman Wei Jianjun said. The company plans to launch nine new models with displacements below 1.6 liters this year and is also eyeing China’s small SUV market, with its 1.3 liter Great Wall Mini SUV scheduled to enter the market in May. The company is also developing environmentally friendly diesel engines in cooperation with the Bosch Group, a German-based supplier of technology and services. (February 3, 2009)
