ExxonMobil launches synthetic motorcycle engine oils in India

ExxonMobil Lubricants Pvt Ltd announced the launch of its upgraded Mobil Super MotoTM range of motorcycle engine oils, formulated with synthetic base oils, in India.

“India’s two-wheeler segment is the largest in the world. With growing preference for personal transport during the pandemic, this segment will play an even more important role, since two-wheelers provide an affordable personal mobility solution,” said Deepankar Banerjee, CEO, ExxonMobil Lubricants Pvt Ltd.

The launch comes at a time when India continues to experience the devastating effects of the Covid-19 pandemic, which has heightened the need for value and convenience. According to the Federation of Automobile Dealers Associations or FADA, registration of two-wheelers in India declined by 31.51% to 11,533,336 units in Fiscal Year 2020-21, ending April 2021, compared to 16,838,965 units in the previous fiscal year. FADA is the apex national body of the automobile retail industry in India engaged in the sale, service and spares of two- and three-wheelers, passenger cars, utility vehicles, commercial vehicles, including buses and trucks, and tractors.

“Our new Mobil Super Moto range is formulated with synthetic technology to deliver better ‘engine wear protection for longer engine life, making it easier for people to maintain their two-wheelers in top condition and providing even greater value,'” Banerjee said.

The new Mobil Super Moto range of engine oils for motorcycles and scooters has been upgraded to API SN. The API SN service category is for 2020 and older automotive engines. ExxonMobil, which owns the Mobil brand, says that API SN is currently the highest available performance standard for two-wheelers. For four-wheelers, API SP is currently the highest performance standard. All Mobil Super Moto products are also compliant with the newer Bharat Stage VI (BS VI) engines. BS VI is the latest vehicle emission norms in India.

The Mobil Super Moto range will be available at Mobil Bike Care workshops, Mobil retail stores, and leading online platforms such as Amazon India, Flipkart, and GarageWorks.

ExxonMobil has offices in India in Bengaluru, Mumbai and the National Capital Region. ExxonMobil’s downstream business in India is solely engaged in the distribution, sales and marketing of Mobil-branded lubricants and specialties.
