Caltex launches new diesel to fight “white pumps”
Chevron, which markets the Caltex brand of fuels, launched Caltex diesel with Techron D additive in a bid to woo Singaporean customers back after steadily losing diesel fuel sales in the last decade to “white pumps” operated by taxi operators. The diesel with Techron D additive, which Chevron says keeps engines cleaner, protects metal parts from rust, and shortens the refueling process, is available at the same price as diesel fuel sold by other oil firms. “According to anecdotal evidence, taxi drivers here can take up to 20 minutes to fill up their tanks because diesel foams a lot when dispensed,” said Chevron Product Engineering Specialist Greg Engeler. “Caltex diesel with Techron D reduces foaming by 95%. It takes just a few minutes to fill up and saves cabbies time.” (July 30, 2009)
