Huaneng, Duke Energy sign MOU
China’s Huaneng Group and U.S.-based Duke Energy, two of the world’s leading power generation companies, have entered into a memorandum of understanding (MOU) to jointly develop clean, renewable energy in the areas of carbon capture and sequestration, coal gasification, as well as carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gas emission reduction technology. Huaneng, one of China’s five major power generation companies, has taken the lead in developing carbon dioxide capture test equipment installed on coal-fired power plants in China. (August 11, 2009)
