Thailand to reinstate old fuel excise rates

Thailand’s six economic stimulus measures which were introduced by the previous government and were originally set to expire at the end of January 2009, has been extended for another six months by the Council of Economic Ministers, under the new government. The only measure that was not extended was the removal of the fuel tax subsidy for gasohol and diesel fuel. Other measures that were extended included free bus and rail transportation, free electricity and free use of tap water. The old fuel excise rates will be reinstated effective February 2009.
