Uniten, Uni10 sign MOU to commercialize research findings
Universiti Tenaga Nasional (Uniten) has sealed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with UNI10 Energy Sdn Bhd to commercialize its research program of converting non-edible feedstock and waste cooking oil into biodiesel and hydrogen. “The MOU allows our research findings to be pre-commercialized or developed further by this company with their funding,” said its project leader, Kumaran Palanisamy. Kumaran said besides Uniten’s internal funding for the research, the Ministry of Science, Technology and Innovation (MOSTI), Tenaga Nasional Bhd as well as Kedah state government would also help. A total of about 2 million ringgit (US$587,803) was involved in the research and feasibility study work, he said. (October 10, 2009)
