Maruti gears up to roll out 1 million cars by fiscal end
India’s Maruti Suzuki hopes to sign off 2009-10 with production of one million cars in a year for the first time. The largest passenger car manufacturer in India will reach this landmark 26 years after it made its debut with the Maruti 800. This will be a milestone in the history of India’s automobile industry and a distant dream for its closest rival Hyundai Motor India, as the gap between the two players would be nearly double as Hyundai is hopeful to close the calendar year with sales of 560,000 units.
