Global chemical industry expert appointed to SI Group Board of Directors
SCHENECTADY, NY – May 23, 2016 – SI Group, Inc., a leading global developer and manufacturer of chemical intermediates, specialty resins, and solutions, announced today the appointment of Shane D. Fleming to the company’s board of directors. Mr. Fleming brings with him over 35 years of experience in the chemical industry, having recently retired from Cyctec Industries following the 2015 acquisition of Cytec by Solvay S.A. Mr. Fleming served as Chairman of the Board, President, and CEO for Cytec Industries for seven years. Prior to that, he served as President and COO.

During his time with Cytec, Mr. Fleming led the transformation from a company comprised of a number of commodity chemical, specialty chemical, and materials business segments, to a highly-focused specialty materials and specialty chemicals company. Over this seven-year period, both the profitability and growth rate of the company increased significantly driving a dramatic increase in the value of Cytec at the time of the Solvay acquisition. He holds a bachelor of science degree in fuels engineering from the University of Utah, Salt Lake City.
Mr. Fleming has been a member of the board of directors of the Valspar Corporation since June of 2013.
